The pulse at the Heart of Reggae music since the 1950's One Legend "HEDLEY JONES", took the standard P.A & built Jones model High-Fidelity audio amplifier of 1947 capable of Bass, Mid & Treble at up to 30,000 watts!!! & speakers the size of wardrobes. The first to obtain this was TOM WONG, who named it A SOUND SYSTEM. It came from the Ghetto's of Kingston, if u had a van, generator, BIG speakers, decks & Dj's. You had a portable party. At first it was American R&B, until more local music was created, SKA..... Two Dj's took the scene by storm, CLEMENT "COXSONE" DODD (STUDIO 1) & DUKE REID (TREASURE ISLE RECORDS)...It was brought to the U.K with the mass immigration of Jamaicans in the 1960's-70's, which has been greatfully received, with UK Sound Systems including Jah Shaka, Channel One, Aba Shanti-I, Jah Observer, Iration Steppas, Fatman International and Saxon Studio International.. In the United States was Downbeat the Ruler, founded in Bronx,New York in the late 1970s. Long shall it remain, there are now Sound Systems Worldwide, commanding Bass loving audiences & a happy, united party wherever they play.
